New staffer joins Bay's Accounting Department

Newport News, Va., May 1, 2006 -- Bay Electric Co., Inc., a general and electrical contracting company based in Newport News, announced today that Mercedes D. Cruz had joined the company as an Accounting Assistant.

In her new role at Bay, Cruz will handle general accounting duties and provide assistance to Bay’s Chief Financial Officer Carolyn Luckadoo and Assistant Controller Roger Hamilton.

Cruz has a wealth of experience in accounting and financial management. She began her accounting career at Jetex International Courier in Panama City, Panama, where she was an Accounting Assistant working with accounts payables and receivables. She also worked for Barraza and Company in Panama City as the Administrative Assistant to the CEO and provided support for the company’s Accounting Department.

Most recently, Cruz was Accounts Payable Assistant at Hampton University in Hampton, Va. There she maintained up-to-date vendor accounts, revised purchase orders and handled vendor payments.

Cruz has a B.A. in business administration from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, and she is fluent in Spanish.
