Electric opens Charleston office
Company opens its second branch office within a
year
Newport
News, Va., August 2, 2004 – Bay Electric Co., Inc. (www.bayelectricco.com),
a general construction and electrical contractor with headquarters
in Newport News, Va., announced today that the company had opened
a branch office in Charleston, S.C.
The Charleston office, located at 2860-B Savannah Highway,
will serve as an operational base for Bay for the Southeast Atlantic area. Bay
currently has several projects in the Charleston area, including a newly awarded
contract for a $2.4 million renovation of the Student Activity Center at the
Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga.
Bay is also working on a $2.9 million project, constructing
a Scientific Research Laboratory for the USDA Agricultural Research Service
Facility at Clemson University’s Coastal Research and Education Center in
Charleston.
Heading up the Bay Electric Charleston branch is Dan
Sturgis, who serves as project manager on the USDA project. He is supervising
Bay’s construction of a 15,000 sq. ft. headhouse and vegetable laboratory at the
Clemson Research Center.
Sturgis has nearly two decades of experience as a project
manager and engineering technician with the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate flight
engineer of the Naval Aviation Engineering Center and has completed numerous
management and construction courses including ones on crane safety, general
construction and hazardous materials.
The Charleston office is the second satellite office opened
by Bay within the past year. In 2003, Bay opened an office in metro Atlanta,
Ga. John Drake, a former Coast Guard Contracting Officer who has been with Bay
for three years, manages the Bay office located at 3435 Martin Farm Rd.,
Suwanee, Ga.
