Interior remodeling work at Bellwood

Bay Electric Project

Bellwood Officers Club, Defense Supply Center Richmond
Renovation

$902,000
Richmond, Va.

Originally built between 1797 and 1804, the Bellwood Officers Club is listed on the Department of the Interior's National Register of Historic Places and is an officially registered historic landmark in both Virginia and Chesterfield County.

Used as a military headquarters during the Civil War, the home still has many of its original pieces including pine flooring, paneled doors, the stairs, large ornamental locks and doorknobs, and most of the door and window frames.

Bay was chosen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to renovate the centuries old building. The renovation work included:

  • Replacing all interior finishes

  • Repairing moisture damage

  • Upgrading existing restrooms

  • Upgrading the hot water heating system

  • Installing a new electrical primary feed to the building

The project also included the addition of substantial asbestos remediation to the contract.
